Data from Chitika shows a massive adoption in just the first 24 hours that the software was available. The firm said that, within the first day, iOS 6 peaked at more than 15 percent of Web traffic to its mobile ad network, and has remained at that level.

Many will be early adopters, that might mourn the loss of Google maps a little, but gain many other new features.

The upgrade record for users of Apple devices continues to be fantastic, this has a lot to do with the seamless process users are presented with when it’s time to upgrade.

As a mobile development company we’re interested in the take up of new operating systems as it gives a good feel for the audience we need to build for and the legacy support we need to maintain.

Having as many users as quickly as possible on as few versions of an OS reduces development and support costs, whilst allowing us to improve our solutions by implementing the latest APIs and features as soon as they are available.

We wish the same could be said for certain web browsers.. but that’s a story for another blog post.
